2018 Single Vineyard Selection Shiraz

Comments

Deep almost black in density, with red-purple hues.  The nose shows rich blackberry and spiced plums with perfumed floral lift.  The palate is full of raspberry, black cherry and pepper and has a mouth filling rich structure.  It is a long, generous, textural style, elegantly constructed with a classy French oak finish.

Vinification Notes

Harvested from our most Northern Barossa Vineyard during the cool of night and at optimal maturity. The bunches were then destemmed and fermented in a combination of 4 & 6 tonne open fermenters and pumped over twice daily. After 7 days on skins the wine was pressed off into stainless steel tanks to complete malolactic fermentation. Once both primary and secondary fermentation was complete, the wine was filled to old oak to mature for 18 month prior to bottling. This wine has had no filtration or fining.

Vintage Notes

The 2018 growing season had all the hallmarks of a classic vintage.  Consistent warm temperatures produced perfect conditions for our red varieties to ripen.  This along with good winter rains and a dry harvest period resulted in wines with great depth of varietal flavours, excellent tannin structure and colour along with a long balanced finish.  Reds from 2018 will age well due to their intense concentration and power.
