2019 Sandpiper Riesling
Our 2019 Sandpiper Riesling boasts a pale straw colour with striking green hues. Notes of fresh lemon and lime are apparent on the nose backed up by subtle hints of florals and spice. Lively notes of citrus and minerality flow generously across the palate leading to a long balanced finish.
Harvest was carried out at night. The fruit was pressed (using an airbag press) within an hour of harvest. Care was taken not to lose the delicate Riesling aromas and flavour pre-cursors in the juice. After settling, the juice was warmed and inoculated with a neutral yeast selected for its ability to respect the purity of Riesling.
Post fermentation the wine was stabilised, minimally fined, filtered then bottled.
The 2019 vintage in the Barossa can be summed up with two key points; low yields and high quality. Lower yields due to environmental conditions lead to a concentration of varietal characters in the bunches and the berries produced this year were intense in fragrance & flavour. Best of all they have an amazing balance. Truly 2019 will sit alongside the greatest vintages the Barossa has seen this century.

An exercise in purity and elegance, the perfumed bouquet trailing through florals, powder puff and a touch of spice, the delicately engineered palate keeping all the components in their place. Terrific balance and length to an all-out bargain.
