2019 Sandpiper Pinot Gris

Comments

Our 2019 Sandpiper Pinot Gris boasts a pale straw colour with vibrant green highlights. Aromas of nashi pear, grapefruit and citrus fill the glass. On the palate, this light to medium bodied wine bursts with notes of melon and pear drop which are complimented by a zesty citrus backbone. The long finish of the wine balances the subtle texture of the variety.

Vinification Notes

Harvest was carried out at night. The fruit was pressed (using an airbag press). After settling the juice was warmed and inoculated with a neutral yeast selected for its ability to respect the purity of the fruit.

Post fermentation the wine was stabilized, minimally fined, filtered then bottled.

Vintage Notes

The 2019 vintage in the Barossa can be summed up with two key points; low yields and high quality. Lower yields due to environmental conditions lead to a concentration of varietal characters in the bunches and the berries produced this year were intense in fragrance & flavour. Best of all they have an amazing balance.  Truly 2019 will sit alongside the greatest vintages the Barossa has seen this century.
