2018 Mount Crawford Riesling
Vibrant pale straw with green highlights. The nose shows perfumed floral notes along with fresh cut white peach and kaffir lime leaf. The palate follows through with juicy citrus flavours and light spice, along with a long balanced acidity and a fine minerality on the finish.
Harvest was carried out at night. The fruit was pressed (using an airbag press) within an hour of harvest. Care was taken not to lose the delicate Riesling aromas and flavour precursors in the juice. After settling, the juice was warmed and inoculated with a neutral yeast selected for its ability to respect the purity of Riesling.
Post fermentation the wine was stabilised, minimally fined, filtered then bottled.
The 2018 growing season had all the hallmarks of a classic vintage. Consistent warm temperatures produced perfect conditions for our Eden Valley whites to ripen. This along with good winter rains and a dry harvest period resulted in vibrant varietal flavours, excellent natural acidity and a long balanced finish.
