2015 Sandpiper Cabernet Sauvignon
Bright red with a purple hue on release. Lifted blackcurrant balances the fresh herb characters on the nose. A hint of eucalyptus is evident. The palate has bright currant characters throughout. Spice and chocolate add to the complexity of the wine. The tannins are ripe and grainy and give the wine good structure.
Harvest was carried out at night. Once destemmed the fruit was pumped over 2 or 3 times daily depending on colour, tannin and flavour extraction. The must was pressed after 6-8 days, malolactic fermentation was carried out in tank prior to French oak mat-uration for 10 to 12 months depending on the parcel. Post blending minimal fining and filtration were used.
2015 Vintage was characterised by a dry period extending from July to April, together with warmer than usual temperatures during Spring until mid January which advanced maturity on lower yielding vines. Mild temperatures from Mid January slowed maturities concentrating flavour and intensifying colour development.

Chocolate cake, black fruit, a bit of mint and spice to go with it. Full bodied, sweet plum and blackberry, thick and rich with lovely bouncy tannin, settled acidity, and a bit of tobacco and toasty savoury stuff on a satisfying finish. Value here. Nicely done.

Super value-for-money cabernet displaying loads of dark chocolate and blackberry flabours with a fine spiciness. The oak has been liberally applied to complement the generous fruit. Soft and supple tannins support the medium to full body.

You can tell this is Cabernet a mile off, because you'll be able to smell it from across the room as it pours from the bottle. Liquorice, eucalypt, pepper, seasoned saddle leather and bay leaf all jostle for position in the glass in this multi-award winning wine. Named Thorn-Clarke after founders David Clarke and Cheryl Thorn and the migratory bird that annually visits the winery, it's packed with blueberry and earthy spices, fresh acidity and elastic tannins. Long, savoury and seriously good value.

Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the edge. This has a firmly concentrated and deep nose with aromas of fresh blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, along with cassis liqueur, harmoniously melded with mint herb nuances. The fruit is expressed with clarity. Full-bodied, the palate is sweetly ripe with well concentrated flavours of blackcurrants and cassis liqueur. The fruit richnessis balanced and supported by fine-grained tannin extraction and structure. Soft, piquant acidity enlivens the fruit, and the wine carries along a positive line, leading to a long and sustained finish of sweet blackcurrant fruit balanced by dry textures. This is a well-structured, sweetly ripe blackcurrant and cassis fruited Cabernet Sauvignon with firm tannin grip and a positive, lingering finish. Match with roast lamb and semi-hard cheeses over the next 5-6+ years.
