2011 Sandpiper Pinot Gris
The 2011 Sandpiper Pinot Gris has lifted pear aroma with subtle spice overtones. The rich palate is medium bodied with excellent texture, ripe pear and spice flavours.
The fruit was harvested at night when the winemakers felt the flavours were right. The juice was gently extracted from the fruit to minimise colour pick up (the fruit is a dark pink/grey colour). Cool fermentation was carried out in stainless steel to retain fruit characters. Extended time on lees add to the texture of the wine.
This vintage had a cool, slow ripening period which has in turn produced superb white wines.
