2010 Mount Crawford Riesling

Light straw in colour. The nose is lifted and flagrant with limes and orange blossoms. The palate displays lemon and lime flavours typical of this variety. The finish is dry and crisp with lingering citrus characters. A lovely wine on its own or try pairing it with seafood or Asian cuisine.

Vinification Notes

Crushed, destemmed and then pressed using a membrane press. Pressings were not used. Fermented using French yeast at 12-15 degrees Celsius. The ferment was kept slow and cool to retain all the natural flavours of the grape. The wine was then racked and filtered. Bottling took place soon afterwards so the wine was a true expression of the grape and the terroir from which it was made.

Vintage Notes

The 2010 vintage followed good winter rainfall in 2009 and allowed vineyards to commence the 2010 season with good soil moisture levels. This soil moisture, combined with moderate weather conditions throughout most of the growing season allowed for good fruit set and canopy development. In summary an excellent vintage, with very little extreme weather resulting in fantastic colour and flavour in red varietals, and excellent acid and flavour profiles for whites.

Winestate Barossa & Eden Valley Tasting, March / April 2011 Edition

Jeremy Oliver, The Australian Wine Annual 2012

90 Points - The best wine under this label I have tasted should flesh out and age with grace. Already developing some smokiness and toastiness, its delicate scent of white flowers, peach, apple and lemon rind precedes a long, even and brightly flavoured palate. Wine a fine underlying chalkiness and a pleasing length of fresh, if uncomplicated lime, lemon and apple flavour, it finishes with fine balance and tangy, citrusy acids.

James Halliday, August 2010

92 Points; Light straw-green; an elegant and crisp riesling, with floral counterpoints of apple, herb and lime/lemon on the bouquet, and citrus, minerally acidity on the palate. Will undoubtedly develop will in bottle. Screwcap. 12.5% alc. Drink 2019
