2009 Terra Barossa Riesling
The wine is pale straw in colour. The nose is bright and lifted with lime juice, perfumed floral notes and honeysuckle characters. The palate is crisp, clean with vibrant, zingy lemon zest flavours combined with a hint of lime leaf. There is good mouthfeel, balanced with citrus fruits and natural acidity.
Crushed, de-stemmed and then pressed using a membrane press. Pressings were not used and ferment commenced using French yeast at 12-15 degrees Celsius. The ferment was kept slow and cool to retain all natural varietal flavours and aromatic qualities. The wine was racked, filtered and then bottled soon afterwards so the wine was a true expression of the grape/terrior from which it was made.
2009 Vintage was fantastic for whites at our high altitude Mt Crawford vineyard in the Eden Valley. Due to its elevation the growing season had mild to warm days and quite cool nights, leading to wines with good fruit and clean balanced acidity.
