2006 Sorriso Rosé
Vibrant red in colour. The nose is lifted and reminiscent of strawberries and cream. The palate is light and vibrant but with great fresh flavours. The strawberries are there again on the palate along with some delicious apple characters. There is some great zingy acid with balanced sweetness and the wine has good length of flavour.
The grapes are crushed and destemmed then left on skins to extract the colour required. The juice was then drained from skins to complete fermentation in a stainless steel tank (exactly like a white wine). The ferment temperature was maintained in the 12-15 degrees Celsius range to retain lively, fresh fruit character. The wine was then racked from yeast lees, filtered and bottled under stelvin closure to maintain freshness.
2006 Vintage had a mild and long ripening season. These conditions favoured the accumulation of fruit driven and vibrant wines.
