2011 Mount Crawford Riesling
Comments
The wine is very pale straw with a green tinge. The nose has lifted floral, lime and Granny Smith apples with nectarine and musk also evident. The palate is medium bodied with rich delicious apples and a distinctive Eden Valley minerality. This flavour combines magnificently with the zingy freshness provided by the good acid balance to give this wine great line and length.
Vinification Notes
Crushed, de-stemmed and then pressed using a membrane press. Pressings were not used and ferment commenced using French yeast at 12-15 degrees celcius. The ferment was kept slow and cool to retain all the natural flavours and aromatic qualities. The wine was racked, filtered and then bottled soon afterwards so the wine was a true expression of the grape/terroir from which it was made.
Vintage Notes
This vintage had a cool, slow ripening period which has in turn produced superb white wines.

RRp $16 - 'Delicate, lovely floral complexity, excellent fruit and mouth-watering acidity. Some tropical fruit notes; dry with medium length; mineral, fine, lemony characters.'
Big Red Wine Book; Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh
Slightly cheesy on opening then into the more traditional citrus and subtle tropical fruit. It's juicy and fresh with decent flavour, a shapely cut of acid and dry finish. Perhaps a little rough and commercial but a good wine and a good drink too.
